ITTA BENA, MS - Mississippi Valley State University's women's basketball wins 71-65 over Texas Southern University at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday day night.
From the opening tip-off, the Devilettes came out with intensity, establishing an early lead over TSU and setting the tone for the game. MVSU surged ahead to claim a 22-14 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
MVSU was led by
Sh'Diamond McKnight who scored 10 points in the first half to help MVSU carry a 37-26 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, TSU goes on a mini run to bring the lead within six with 6:59 remaining.
MVSU was able to seize control in the fourth quarter and takel a 71-65 conference win at home.
MVSU was led by
Sh'Diamond McKnight who scored a season high 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, collected seven steals and three assists.
Lizzie Walker finished with nine points, eight rebounds, and one steal.
Ja'la Douglas added eight points and five rebounds.
The Devilettes will host Prairie View A&M University on Monday February 26, 2024 for Senior Night. The game is scheduled for 5:30PM.
