Mississippi Valley University (MVSU) pulled off a thrilling 3-2 victory against Hampton on September 3, 2024, at the MVSU Soccer Field. Hampton opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a goal by Nylah Jennings, assisted by Ellen Van Caenegem. However, MVSU evened the playing field before halftime when Liana Bryant scored in the 39th minute, assisted by Jacquelline Kambere.

In the second half, Genesis Hernandez put Mississippi Valley ahead with a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Bryant doubled the lead with her second goal, assisted by Jada Goodman, in the 56th minute. Hampton fought back with a goal by Annika Neubauer, assisted by Sofia Jimenez, in the 63rd minute, but MVSU's defense held firm to secure the win.

The Devilettes outlasted Hampton despite 11 fouls and multiple offside calls. Goalkeeper Sydney Whitten made four crucial saves to keep MVSU in the game. With this victory, Mississippi Valley improved their record to 1-1-0.
