TROY, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program was primed for a dogfight after the first ten minutes yielded just a one-point deficit (18-17), but Troy rattled off 18 unanswered to open the second quarter to which Valley never recovered in a 90-55 decision in the season and road opener.

Devilettes' Top Performers:
- Jaeda Murphy was the single Devilettes to score in double-figures, using a career-best three long balls to propel her to a team-most 11 points via 4-for-9 (44.4%) plus 3-of-5 (60%) from distance.
- Keanna Coburn has the other personal broken on the day, totaling four rebounds and swiping her first collegiate steal.
- Poetrie Dace was the top rebounder with a modest six as well as five points and one of the club's pair of blocks (Kylah McCullers logged the other).
- Ariel Jefferson and Taylor Crawford rounded out the squad's statistical leaders at three assists and steals, respectively, as the two also convinced for ten points.
