Second Half Surge Not Enough for Devilettes vs. Tarleton State

 
ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program dug itself a massive hole by halftime but nearly crawled all the way out of it, outscoring the visiting Texans by 18 points over the final two quarters during a 66-50 loss in the non-conference home finale.

Devilettes' Top Performers:
 
  • Janiya Jones accounted for more than half of the Green and White's assist total, setting up a career/game-high seven buckets with five points, four rebounds, and a steal thrown in.
 
  • Kylah McCullers raised her personal benchmark for single-game scoring, leading Valley with a dozen points on five field goals (5-for-12, 41.7%).
 
  • A 5-foot-3 guard, Jaeda Murphy showed off her defensive and jumping prowess, blocking her third career shot in addition to eight points, four boards, and four assists.
 
  • Nairobi Lewis set up a wall around the rim, swatting away four separate Texans attempts while nearly notching her first double-double for Coach James, ending up at ten points and eight rebounds.
 
  • Ariel Jefferson was even closer than Lewis was to double-double land, going for 11 points and a MVSU-most nine boards (four offensive) as well as being the lone defender to log multiple steals (2).
