ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program unfortunately ran into a hot-shooting Hornets club that knocked down 53.7% (29-of-54) overall and 71.4% (5-for-7) from downtown, disallowing the Green and White to build off its massive SWAC opening victory on Thursday as they fell Saturday afternoon, 83-50.

Devilettes' Top Performers:
- Jaeda Murphy logged double-figures in the scoring column thanks to a tied for career-high six free throws, earning herself ten points and multiple steals (2) to lead the Devilettes in both categories.
- Ja'la Douglas was perfect in limited opportunities, setting season-bests of eight points and four baskets, cashing in on all four of her field goal attempts over 14 minutes as a reserve.
- Ariel Jefferson registered identical statistical numbers in both the points (9) and rebounding (9) departments, the latter being a contest-high while Desiree Smith corralled a half-dozen boards as well as her first two dimes at MVSU.
- Lastly, Sydnei Marshall tied for the game's most assists with a personal-best four of them whereas Nairobi Lewis blocked multiple shots (2) for the fourth time in the team's last five outings.
