DELTA | Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball will officially turn its attention toward the 2026-27 season when the program takes part in the 2026 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Media Day on Tuesday, October 6, in Birmingham, Alabama.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Embassy Suites and will feature coaches and student-athletes from across the conference as programs preview the upcoming season.

Representing Mississippi Valley State will be Head Coach Jason James, along with Sydnei Marshall and Bryana Block.

Media Day will provide James, Marshall and Block an opportunity to discuss the program's preparation for the upcoming campaign, the development of this year's team and the expectations surrounding MVSU women's basketball as the season approaches.

James continues to guide the Valley program with an emphasis on player development, competitiveness and building momentum within the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Under his leadership, MVSU has recorded back-to-back SWAC Tournament opening-round victories, providing the program with a foundation to build upon entering the new season.

Marshall and Block will give the student-athlete perspective as the duo represents the Green and White among the conference's featured players in Birmingham. Their appearance will help introduce the next chapter of MVSU women's basketball as the team prepares for another challenging SWAC slate.

The annual SWAC Basketball Media Day serves as the conference's official preseason showcase, bringing together coaches, student-athletes and media members ahead of the start of the college basketball season.
