HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Mississippi Valley State University softball program could not capitalize on its close call setback Friday, succumbing to Alabama A&M by scores of 5-3 and 10-0, the latter in five.

Diamond Devils' Top Performers (Game 1):
 
  • Hailey Akers provided the lone multi-hit showing of game one, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, scoring a run and driving in one of the squad's two RBIs.
 
  • The other ribbie came off the bat of Devyn Dotson as she tried to ignite a seventh inning rally.
 
  • Michelle Diaz reached twice via a base knock and a free pass, touching the dish once as well whereas Madison Wesley was another Devil to get aboard safely more than once, also walking and singling.
 
  • Ashtyn Clark cracked the only extra-base hit in the opener with a double and Sheridan Kynard swiped her 13th stolen base in 14 attempts.
 
Diamond Devils' Top Performers (Game 2):
 
  • Kynard was the star of the show in the nightcap, posting a perfect 3-for-3 outing in the batter's box.
 
  • Clark contributed both a pinch-hit single as well as two strikeouts over a pair of frames in the circle.
 
  • Taniya Partee tallied the fifth and final base hit for the Green and White while Devyn Dotson coaxed the lone base on balls.

  • MVSU plays host to the Florida A&M Rattlers for its final homestand of 2026, first up is a single contest at 3 p.m. on Friday.
