THE DELTA | A new year of competition begins this week for Mississippi Valley State University Athletics as the Delta Devil football and volleyball programs officially open their 2026 seasons. The opening week features four contests across two states, giving MVSU supporters their first opportunity to follow the Green and White in regular-season action.

The football program will be the first MVSU team to take the field, opening its second season under head coach Terrell Buckley with a road matchup against Nicholls on Thursday, August 27. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Thibodaux, Louisiana, with the game available nationally on ESPN+.

The MVSU volleyball team will begin its first season under head coach Shay Ashford with three matches at the Betty Austin Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama. The Devilettes will play a Friday doubleheader against Delaware State and South Carolina State before concluding the opening weekend Saturday against Maryland Eastern Shore.

The week marks the official beginning of the 2026-27 MVSU Athletics calendar as the Delta Devils look to build momentum, represent Mississippi Valley State University and bring the heat throughout the upcoming seasons.

Single game football tickets for the 2026 season are available now through the official MVSU Athletics app and online ticketing platforms.
