THE DELTA | Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball has announced its 2026–27 schedule, featuring four nonconference home dates and a December trip to Ole Miss as head coach
Jason James enters his second full season leading the program.
MVSU will welcome Tougaloo College, West Georgia, Mercer and South Carolina State to Itta Bena before turning its attention to Southwestern Athletic Conference play in January. Those four home match ups and the visit to Oxford highlight the nonconference slate.
MVSU's home schedule begins Thursday, Oct. 29, when Tougaloo College visits for a 6:30 p.m. match up. The contest gives fans their first opportunity on the schedule to see MVSU at home before the team begins a stretch of five consecutive road games in November.
MVSU returns to Itta Bena on Friday, Nov. 20, to host West Georgia at 11 a.m. The morning match up is MVSU's lone home appearance in November, providing a break from the road before two away games close the month.
The December home slate opens Saturday, Dec. 5, against Mercer, with tipoff set for 2 p.m. The afternoon matchup begins a two-game home stand during the final month of nonconference play.
South Carolina State follows on Friday, Dec. 11, for a 6 p.m. match up in Itta Bena. The contest closes MVSU's nonconference home schedule, with three road games remaining before the start of league competition.
Among the road highlights, Valley travels to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Sunday, Dec. 27. Tipoff is to be announced. The in-state match up concludes the nonconference schedule and serves as MVSU's final outing before SWAC play begins.
Conference action opens Saturday, Jan. 2, at Alabama State in Montgomery, with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m. Following a visit to Alabama A&M, Valley will host Texas Southern on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in its SWAC home opener.
