Brittany Tillery began her duties as an assistant coach for the Mississippi Valley State University softball program in November 2014.
During her first season on staff, she helped lead the Devilettes to the SWAC Tournament championship game. Three MVSU student-athletes were named All-SWAC and Deja Talton was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
Prior to landing at MVSU, Tillery served as the head softball coach at Germantown High School in Madison, Mississippi from 2011-2013. Her duties included managing the softball budget, scheduling contests, game day operations and managing practices and conditioning. During her stint as head coach, she led the program to its first district regular season title. Tillery also served as an assistant softball coach under Coach Kayla Watkins at Madison Central High School in Madison, Mississippi, from 2009-2011. As an assistant Madison Central won back to back 6A State Champions as well as 2 District Championships.
Playing Career:
PREP: Played six seasons for coaches Wendy Gibson and Marilyn Tillery at Starkville High...Named All-District 2001-2005 and All Conference 2002-2005 seasons...Four-time All-Area selection... SHS MVP in 2003, 2004 and 2005... Garnered Best Offensive Player Award 2003-2005 and Best Defensive Player Award 2002- 2005...Set SHS single season stolen base record with 31...Also lettered in basketball and track.
2007: Played in 65 games with 62 starts…Led the team with a .374 batting average…Posted seven doubles, four triples, including an NCAA Division II record tying three in one game, one home run and 26 RBI…Stole a team-high 32 bases in 33 attempts, and threw out 13 base runners from the outfield… Named First Team All-GSC. 2006: Played in 65 games with 52 starts...Batted .248 with 35 hits in 141 at-bats with 39 runs scored...Posted three doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 12 RBI as well...Perfect 10-for10 in steals.
2008: Started all 59 games for the Lady Statesmen...Named to the All-Gulf South Conference West Division First Team... Daktronics All-Region selection...NFCA Second Team All-Region selection...Batted a team-leading and school-record .450 with 76 hits in 169 at-bats...Slammed nine home runs with two triples, and nine doubles while driving in 41...Scored a team-leading 51 runs and swiped 27-of-29 bases...Led GSC in batting...Ranked third in GSC in slugging percentage (.686), sixth in runs scored (51), third in hits (76), and seventh in total bases (116).
Tillery wrapped up her stellar career finishing in the DSU all-time record books third in career batting average (.357), second in hits (233), sixth in runs batted in (107), fifth in home runs (17), second in runs scored (172), third in stolen bases (96) and tied for first in games played with 241. The Starkville native was named Second Team All Gulf South Conference for her 2009 efforts, in which she batted .341 with five home runs, seven doubles, two triples, 28 RBI and 27 stolen bases.
Tillery earned her Bachelor's degree in Sports Management with a minor in Business at Delta State University in May 2009. She later earned her Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Mississippi Valley State University May 2017.
