Alexandra (Alex) Miller is entering her third year as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State University. Prior to MVSU, Miller coached at both the high school and AAU levels.
Miller spent nine years as the head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity coach at Hillside High School in Durham, NC. She led the Hillside JV team to two undefeated seasons and an impressive eight winning seasons. The varsity team also finished with eight winning seasons. Miller also served as head coach for John Wall’s Team Wall 16U & 17U AAU teams in Raleigh, NC during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Prior to coaching, Miller was a guard for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women’s basketball team from 2004-09. She was a four time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Champion and played in two Final Four Championships while at UNC. Miller was a top on the ball defender and led the team in charges. As a senior, Miller suffered a career ending knee injury but developed a passion for coaching as she became a student coach for the UNC team and learned alongside Hall of Fame Coach Sylvia Hatchell. Miller graduated from UNC with a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies.
Miller was a standout basketball player at Hillside High School. She was a four year starter and led the team in scoring, assists and steals throughout her career. She also was a sprinter on the Hillside HS State Championship track and field team.
Miller is a native of Durham, NC and is the daughter of Lynda Keith.
