Lakes is entering her second season as a graduate assistant for the Mississippi Valley State University women's basketball program.
Previously, she played basketball at Mississippi Delta Community College from 2008-10 under Burndette McDonald. She then finished her career at MVSU under head coach Nate Kilbert from 2010-12. She was named Third Team All-SWAC in 2011 and Second Team All-SWAC in 2012. She helped lead the Devilettes to a regular season championship during the 2011-12 season.
She received an associate's degree in business administration from MDCC in 2010 and a bachelor's degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in 2012. She currently pursuing her master's degree at Valley.
