Jaquanna Murray

Jaquanna Murray enters her third season as an assistant basketball coach at Mississippi Valley State University.

Murray is the recipient of the Women’s Sports Foundation - Tara VanDerveer Grant for the second straight year. During year one as the Tara VanDerveer Fellow, Murray gained valuable experience in the areas of basketball operations, NCAA compliance, and player development.  As the Tara VanDerveer Fellow, she participated in various professional development opportunities to broaden her knowledge in the sport of basketball, offensive and defensive schemes, team building skills (players/staff) and networking within the collegiate athletics industry.

Prior to MSVU, Murray spent her collegiate years playing basketball at South Carolina State University, where she became the leading shot blocker in SC State history. She extended her basketball career as professional athlete overseas in Ostrava, Czech Republic for SBS Ostrava.

After her stint as a professional athlete, Murray served as an assistant coach at North High School in North, S.C.  She also served as a strength and conditioning coach.
In her spare time, Murray enjoys watching Netflix, reality shows and fitness training.  A fun fact about Murray is she is a twin to Jaquan Murray.  

The Orangeburg, S.C. native is the daughter of Gloria Drayton and Steve Murray. She graduated from Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in 2015 and South Carolina State University in 2019.  She is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Mississippi Valley State University.
