Jaquarius Wilson

Jaquarius Wilson, Assistant Track & Field Coach, is entering his 5th year of coaching, and his second year at Mississippi Valley State University.

With his familial roots connecting in and around the Delta, he is a native of Carrollton, MS. After growing up in Memphis, TN, Wilson eventually moved to Olive Branch, MS where he attended Center Hill High School and graduated with Honors of Special Distinction as a 3 sport (Football, Track & Field, Tennis) Varsity Athlete in 2013.

Following graduation, Wilson became a standout Track & Field Athlete at Mississippi State University where he held the school record in the Men's Indoor Heptathlon, scoring 5,160 points. He was a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, and was also tabbed to the 2016 SEC Community Service Team. In 2017, Wilson placed 8th to score in the Decathlon during the Outdoor SEC Championship, totaling 7,177 points and a top 5 finish in program history.

Wilson graduated from Mississippi State in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and a Bachelor of Art in Communication. Following graduation, Entrepreneurship in Photography/Videography, Modeling/Acting, and Personal Training became his way of life. After a few years of business, he became a volunteer coach at Center Hill before accepting a position as the Jumps & Multis Coach at the University of Montevallo in August of 2021.

During his three year tenure, Wilson Coached 10 GSC Conference Champions, 35 Division II South All-Region Honorees, 20 Top 3 GSC Podium Finishers, 3 National Qualifying Provisional Marks, and numerous Montevallo and Gulf South Conference Records between indoor and outdoor.

“First of all, I have to give God the Glory for the journey he has led me through to get here. I am elated for the opportunity to come to MVSU and begin coaching alongside Coach Snapp” Wilson says. “Coming to Valley, it brings me closer to my hometown of Carrollton, MS, and it is my Grandmother’s Alma Mater. I have the chance to pursue my passion of developing student athletes at the NCAA’s highest level, and I am looking to bring a positive change in Culture here at the Valley!”

In his free time, Jaquarius enjoys lifting weights, traveling, skating, and seeing his friends. His next hobbies include learning to cut hair, learning to play the piano and guitar, and learning to ride motorcycles. He is also an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., where he crossed during undergrad in Fall 2016 through the Theta Iota Chapter of Mississippi State University.
