Mississippi Valley State University football has named Demetri Wilson the program’s Recruiting Coordinator and Director of Player Development. Wilson brings extensive experience in college football recruiting, player personnel, football operations, and student-athlete development, with experience spanning Power 5, FBS, FCS, and Division II programs.
Wilson began his college football career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, where he played offensive and defensive line from 2012–17. Following his playing career, he served as an assistant defensive line coach from 2017–18 before transitioning into recruiting and player personnel. From 2017–20, Wilson served as the Director of Player Personnel and On-Campus Recruiting Coordinator, overseeing recruiting boards and coordinating player services, including enrollment, financial aid, housing, transportation, and academic advising. He was named the NWOSU Ranger Recruiter of the Year in 2018.
Following his time at Northwestern Oklahoma State, Wilson joined Eastern Illinois University as the Assistant Director of Recruiting (Volunteer) from June 2020–February 2021. Serving as the portfolio manager for the defense, he organized recruiting boards and provided recruiting assistance to the head coach, assistant coaches, and recruiting coordinator. He was involved in all aspects of the Panthers’ football recruiting efforts.
Wilson continued his career at the University of Florida as a Player Personnel and Recruiting Assistant from December 2022–March 2023. During his time in Gainesville, he provided recruiting assistance, worked with the defensive backs, and assisted in player evaluation and the identification of potential prospects. He also contributed to the Gators’ 2023 recruiting class, which was ranked No. 13 nationally.
At West Virginia University, Wilson served as the Assistant Director of Recruiting Communications from March–June 2023. He was responsible for developing recruiting communication plans and ensuring coaches had the necessary information to fulfill their responsibilities in the player acquisition process. With direction from the recruiting staff, he planned weekly recruiting communication strategies and organized recruiting efforts within the Mountaineer football office.
Wilson then joined Fresno State University as the Director of Recruiting Operations from June–October 2023. In this role, he managed recruiting logistics, official and unofficial visits, and summer prospect camps. He also supported recruiting operations, academic monitoring, player development, and scouting.
Prior to joining Mississippi Valley State, Wilson served as the Coordinator of Football Operations at Albany State University from July 2024–May 2025. He managed day-to-day football operations, including team travel, housing, meals, and logistics. Wilson also coordinated recruiting visits, budgeting, vendor relations, and event planning while working closely with coaches, academics, compliance, and athletics administration.
At Mississippi Valley State, Wilson oversees the program’s recruiting efforts, prospect evaluation, and player development initiatives. He works closely with the coaching staff to identify and recruit prospective student-athletes while helping establish a comprehensive player development structure that prepares Delta Devils for success on the field, in the classroom, and beyond football.
A native of South Florida, Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 2018 and a Master’s degree in Adult Education in 2020.
Wilson is married to his wife, Cydnee, and they have two children, a son, Clayton, and a daughter, Alexandra. He is the son of Clayrinski and Akiko Wilson and has four siblings: Traquez, Clayon, Brandon, and Eldrick.
