Shawn Waller Named Director of Sports Performance for MVSU Athletics.
Waller joins the Delta Devils with experience in collegiate sports performance, strength and conditioning, athlete development and team-based training. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Waller has worked with high school, collegiate and professional-level athletes, bringing a strong background in weight room operations, performance programming and collaboration with athletic training and sport staffs.
Prior to arriving at MVSU, Waller served as Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Bowie State University beginning in 2025. He also gained experience as an interim strength coach at Bowie State while completing his collegiate playing career in 2024.
In addition to his collegiate sports performance experience, Waller has served as a volunteer football coach and performance trainer with Western School of Technology and Rising Star Athletics. In that role, he assisted with football strength and conditioning, on-field performance development, position-specific training, youth and high school athlete development, and long-term athlete mentoring.
A former collegiate football student-athlete at Bowie State University, Waller earned CIAA All-Conference honors as a punt returner in 2024 and served as an NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative from 2024 to 2025.
Waller earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a concentration in Marketing from Bowie State University in 2023, graduating with a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average. He was also named to the Dean’s List in Spring 2024.
Waller holds certifications through the NSCA and American Red Cross, including CPR/AED.
