Stanley E. Stubbs was announced as the new Head Baseball Coach at Mississippi Valley State on July 28, 2021.

Coach Stanley Stubbs is no stranger to baseball. He has over 20 years’ experience as a head coach or assistant head coach at the collegiate level. Stubbs is currently owner of Pro Prospects Inc. and an associate scout with Baltimore Orioles. Stubbs’ coaching career began at Jackson State University where they won the 1995 SWAC Championship. He was the Associate Director of Athletics / Head baseball Coach at Rust College and has also worked for Texas College (NAIA) of the Red River Athletic Conference. Prior to that, he was the assistant coach at Savannah State University (MEAC) and other schools in the (SIAC) Southern Intercollegiate Conference including, Le Moyne Owen College, Benedict College, Paine College, and Albany State University. Stubbs also acquired three SIAC Conference championships while at Paine College & Albany State University respectively. He was also the first coach in SIAC history to win back to back championships at two different institutions (Paine College/Albany State). Stubbs was also selected Coach of the Year in baseball at both Paine College and Albany State.

In 2021, Coach Stubbs took Rust College baseball to a level never before seen in program history as he helped the Bearcats make its first ever appearance in the Black College Nines HBCU Baseball Poll where they debuted at #5 before ending the season ranked at #9. Prior to Stubbs' arrival, the Blue and White had never appeared in any national polls over the team's 46-year existence. Stubbs saw Rust College Baseball rank 7th in the NAIA for steals per game (2.77) and 18th regarding total steals (86) while earning a #4 seed in the inaugural Black College World Series held at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama. The Blue and White finished with its most wins in a season (13) since the 2003 campaign when RC secured a 17-16 record while competing in the NCAA's Division III.

As a professional, he has experiences as an associate scout with the Atlanta Braves, the 2003 World Series Champion Florida Marlins, the Washington Nationals, and currently the Baltimore Orioles. Stubbs reputation precedes him as a passionate coach that takes pride in his work as a coach/mentor. Stanley has very strong Christian values and morals which include molding young men on how to be successful in life. He works hard to develop (FCA) Fellowship of Christian Athletes Programs on college campuses.

He is a man with a vision who is determined to make an impact in student-athletes lives while working to increase graduation rates. Stubbs received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Lane College and a Master’s in Education from Jackson State University.
