ITTA BENA -- The Hornets of Alabama State closed out its weekend series at Mississippi Valley State with an 9-2 win over the Delta Devils. 

Alabama State (10-17, 5-4 SWAC ) claimed the series 2-1 while the MVSU (6-18, 6-6) saw its conference record fall to .500. 

David Lostra (2-4) suffered the loss, working the first two innings and giving up seven runs on three hits with one strikeout. Cody Parker and Barrett Baxley pitched in relief for the Delta Devils. 

Ron Frost (2-4) picked up the victory for the Hornets. He worked eight innings, giving up two runs on three hits with five strikeouts. 

Valley will be at Tennessee on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday's first pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
