Delta Devils split with Braves

ITTA BENA – The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils split with rival Alcorn State on Saturday, with the Braves holding on for a 5-4 win in Game 1 before Valley crushed Alcorn 9-4 in the final game.

Game 1
Despite 11 hits, the Delta Devils came up one run short. Michael Lowe finished 4-of-5 from the plate with an RBI. Luke Brumfield and Edmund Cheatham added two hits apiece.
 
Kameron Stady (1-6) suffered the loss, working seven complete innings while giving up four earned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts. Barrett Baxley finished the game out for MVSU.
 
Steve Easter (2-4) earned the victory for the Braves, allowing two earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
 
Game 2
Despite allowing four Alcorn State runs in the fourth inning, the Delta Devils fought back to defeat the Braves, 9-4.
 
Cody Parker (2-0) got his second victory of the season as the Delta Devils still hold the fourth place in the SWAC Eastern standings. Chris Broadway was credited with the save.
 
Michael Lowe stayed hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 for with three runs and one RBI. Trey Lacy had three RBIs for the Delta Devils.
 
Troy Williams (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing six earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
