STARKVILLE -- It was game of back and forth Tuesday between Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State.

But, it was the Bulldogs who pounded out three runs in the seventh inning to outlast a fiesty Delta Devil squad, 6-3, at Dudy Noble Field in a game that started late due to rainy conditions.

MSU (30-18) scored three runs early in the first inning before MVSU (14-36) clawed its way back with three runs of their own in the third. Edmund Cheatham, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored the Delta Devils' first run on a throwing error by MSU. After a Michael Lowe walk, Seth Milliorn hit a RBI single to left field gave MVSU its second run of the inning. Lowe then scored Valley's final run of the inning on another MSU throwing error.

With the scored tied at 3 in the seventh inning, the Bulldogs put their feet on the pedal -- scoring three runs to move past the Delta Devils.

David Lostra (3-9) suffered the loss. He worked 6.2 innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits with five walks and four strikeouts. Cody Parker, who gave up three hits, finished out the game for Valley.
