ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils are hoping to open conference play with a victory following a narrow loss to Concordia College last week in the season opener.
MVSU (0-1) will be traveling to Montgomery, Ala. to face a Hornets (0-1) squad which is coming off a 38-28 loss to Bethune-Cookman in Orlando, Fla.
Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 6 p.m. at the Crampton Bowl.
The Delta Devils last defeated Alabama State on Sept. 23, 2009 with a 10-3 victory in the Chicago Classic. Paul Roberts threw for the game's only touchdown on a 44-yard strike to Paul Cox.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Chmarcko Goldsberry: The senior defensive tackle wrecked shop on the Concordia offensive line, finishing with five tackles (1.5 for loss) and a pair of sacks.
Julian Stafford: In his first start at receiver, the sophomore led the Delta Devils with five catches for 53 yards last week.
Robert Simpson: The junior defensive tackle was all over the field against Concordia. He finished with four tackles (3.5 for loss), one sack and recovered a fumble in the endzone for a touchdown.
Trey Bateaste: The workhorse running back carried the ball 12 times for 66 yards last week.
Javaris Fritz: The senior defensive end helped limit Concordia to just 28 rushing yards last week. He finished the game with six tackles (1.5 for loss), a sack and a forced fumble.
