Box Score ITTA BENA -- The Mississippi Valley State volleyball team fought hard Tuesday night but was unable to come away with a victory following a 3-1 loss to rival Jackson State.
The Lady Tigers defeated the Devilettes 3-1 as MVSU (8-16, 1-3 SWAC) dropped its third conference game of the season. JSU won the first two sets 25-23 before Valley claimed the third set, 26-14. JSU took control in the final set, winning 25-14.
Halle Gayten led MVSU with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .370. Taylor Delaire chipped in nine kills, but also had nine errors. Athena Abary and Alexandria Garland combined for 36 assists in the game.
Andrea Lopez led the Devilettes with 10 digs.
Valley will be off until Oct. 29 when it hosts Alcorn State for Senior Day at 6 p.m. at the Harrison HPER Complex.
