Box Score HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Southern women's soccer team scored one goal in each half on the way to a 2-0 win Sunday over Mississippi Valley State. 

Marlyn Campa scored TSU's first goal at the 15:07 mark before Ruth Giraldo closed out the game with the final goal with just 45 seconds left in the contest. 

MVSU's Josee Primeau and Hailey Beekman each had two of five shot attempts. 

"It was a difficult game and I felt that Texas Southern did a better job finishing their opportunities in front of goal," said MVSU head coach Sonia Curvelo. "I do feel we created a few scoring opportunities, however, we did not hit the target, which affects our results. We need to continue to improve in this area as well as being more disciplined in our defending. It's critical that we continue to improve and seek consistency in our performance as we move into training this week."

The Devilettes will be back on the field Friday at Southern University for a 6 p.m. start.
