Series: Alabama A&M leads the series 18-7………MVSU last won in 2006

Hudson makes move to DB
After spending all last season and three games of 2013 as a wide receiver, Greenwood native Terrance Hudson has made the switch to defensive back. His jersey number has changed from No. 80 to No. 11.

Stady added to roster
Kameron Stady, who recently exhausted his eligibility in baseball at MVSU and is currently a member of the golf team, has been added to the roster. He will serve as a kicker and punter.

Powe ranked 4th in SWAC in tackles per game
Despite missing a game due to injury earlier this season, MVSU senior linebacker Brandon Powe is ranked fourth in the SWAC with 10.3 per game. He has 31 tackles (17 solo) and two sacks on the season.

Simpson plays at DE vs. Southern
MVSU's Preseason All-SWAC defensive tackle Robert Simpson started in an unusual spot during the Delta Devils' last game, against Southern. The Gulfport native started at defensive end with senior Rico Shaw filling in at defensive tackle.

Boykin, Jones lead SWAC in picks
Glendale Community College transfer defensive backs Avery Boykin and Davon Jones have both made a name for themselves this season. Jones and Boykin are tied for first in the SWAC in interceptions with two apiece. Boykin recorded an interception against Delta State and Florida A&M while Jones had two against Delta State.

Quotes from MVSU head coach Karl Morgan

On the change of practice time from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. :
"We're changing the time we practice because we're missing too many guys to class conflicts. And that's been an ongoing problem since Day 1. We'll go at night now and hopefully we'll get the majority of the players there."

On the bye week:
"It came at a right time. It would have been nice if we were .500. That was the goal. A 2-0 record in the conference would've been great, but that's not the case…."

On the state of the team:
"It would have been nice to have had a victory or two. That would have helped the whole belief process. I think we're getting better; I think you can see it. But we still have a ways to go…still have a lot of areas that we need to improve in."

On MVSU players' current mood:
"I think everybody is still on board, everybody is still optimistic. With seven football games, that's a lot of weeks left. So that's a plus in the sense that we have time to get this thing right. And I think the players feel that way….With a good week and some good things happening early on in Huntsville, we look forward to getting our first victory."

On whether a bye week was good for MVSU or Alabama A&M
"I think advantage for us because we got a chance to get an early start on them. Anytime you have a chance to watch a team for two weeks, that's a plus for you."
