Devilettes get revenge, defeat JSU

Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State volleyball team got its revenge from a loss earlier this season to Jackson State on Friday night when the Devilettes held off the Lady Tigers, 3-2.

The Devilettes defeated JSU, 15-13, in the final set to stave off JSU, who is in second place in the SWAC Eastern Division.

Valley won the first two sets (25-21, 25-23) before the Lady Tigers claimed the next two easily (25-15, 25-10).

"Tonight, the team came in focused and with a newfound energy," said MVSU coach Angela Franke. "They never gave up and never let down. They all came together and played as a team. Every single player played a part in tonight's victory."

Two of those players included Taylor Delaire and Halle Gayten, who had nine kills apiece. Andrea Lopez chipped in seven kills.

MVSU has two games left in the regular season with the first scheduled for Nov. 14 at Alabama A&M at 5 p.m.
