Box Score 2 GREENVILLE -- The Mississippi Valley State baseball team opened its season with a pair of losses Saturday to Prairie View A&M at Legion Field.
The Panthers (2-0, 2-0 SWAC) clipped the Delta Devils 14-11 in the first game before defeating MVSU 16-3 in seven innings in the final game of the day.
First Game
Trey Lacy went 4-for-4 for with three RBIs for MVSU (0-2, 0-2 SWAC) and Edward Cox added a pair of hits but the Panthers but a ninth inning 3-run homer by Dominiq Harris was too much for the Delta Devils to overcome. Kameron Stady (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing seven runs (six earned) in five innings of work.
Second Game
Prairie View scored 14 runs in the fifth inning and closed out the Delta Devils in seven innings in the final game of the day. MVSU had four hits, with Demetrins Bonner accounting for two of them. Five Valley pitchers saw action and Montana Killier suffered the loss.
MVSU and Prairie View will play another doubleheader Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. at Greenville's Legion Field.
