Box Score 3 JACKSON, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State saved its best for last on Sunday, but it wasn't enough. After falling twice on Saturday to rival Jackson State, the Delta Devils took the Tigers into 13 innings in the finale of the three-game series.
But Bryce Taylor's RBI-single in the bottom of the 13th inning provided the Tigers with a 12-11 win over the Delta Devils to give JSU a three-game sweep. JSU (9-6, 6-0 SWAC) defeated Valley Saturday in seven innings in both games, 10-0 and 12-2.
In Sunday's game, Edmund Cheatham and Joseph Germaine had three hits apiece. Geramine, who hit a solo homerun in the second inning, hit a 2-run double in the bottom of the ninth to extend the game for the Delta Devils (2-15, 1-6 SWAC). MVSU had 16 hits, but gave up 17 of their own and had five errors.
Cheatham and Seth Milliorn also homered for Valley. Cheatham hit a solo homerun in the third inning while Milliorn hit a two-run shot in the 10th, MVSU's only runs during extra innings.
It was MVSU's first homeruns of the season.
Grant Reifers, who pitched the final inning of the game, suffered the loss.
The Delta Devils will be at West Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday. The teams will play a single game Tuesday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
