Box Score GREENVILLE -- Mississippi Valley State hit two homeruns and scored five runs in one inning Sunday but it wasn't enough to keep away Jackson State as the Tigers held on for a 8-6 win at Legion Field in the last of the three game series.
The Delta Devils (4-31, 1-11 SWAC) put up five runs in the bottom half of the third inning using a triple by Trey Lacy and a 2-run homer from Jonathan Parker, JSU (21-16, 15-3) tacked on five runs of its on the fourth.
Lacy hit a solo homer in the eighth inning for the Delta Devils to cut JSU's lead to 8-6, but three MVSU strikeouts in the ninth inning ended Valley's chances at a comeback.
David Lostra (2-5) gave up three earned runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts in four innings of work.
Parker, Lacy and Seth Milliorn led Valley with two hits apiece.
The Delta Devils will be back in Greenville Tuesday when they host UAPB in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
