MVSU, Blue Mountain split

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GREENVILLE - Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State and Blue Mountain College split in baseball action Tuesday at Legion Field.

The Delta Devils defeated the Toppers 7-0 in the first game of seven innings before succumbing to BMC 5-0 in the final game.

Game one
MVSU (4-27) scored two runs in the fourth and added five more in the sixth to blank the Toppers in the first of two games. The Delta Devils scored its first run thanks to a Blue Mountain error and a Luke Brumfield RBI-single accounted for Valley’s final run in the second inning.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, Brumfield hit another RBI-single. Edmund Cheatham responded later in the inning with a two-run single. Cheatham then shocked the crowd by stealing home to score the final run of the game.

David Lostra (2-4) allowed just two hits with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Game Two
MVSU's Montana Kiler (1-7) allowed five earned runs with six strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work in a 5-0 loss to the Toppers.

Mark Kaplan and Jonathan Parker accounted for Valley's two hits.

The Delta Devils will be off till next Tuesday when they travel to Belhaven for a 6 p.m.
