Devilettes fall to La.-Lafayette

Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. -- In Mississippi Valley State's final road game before a stretch a home games over the next month, the Devilettes fell Sunday 3-0 at Louisiana-Lafayette.

MVSU (1-5) attempted eight shots, including four on goal, but were unable to convert on any of them. Meanwhile, ULL scored two of its three goals in the second half.

Devilette coach Sonia Curvelo was impressed with Valley's efforts throughout the game.

"It was the best performance our team gave this season so far," she said. "The players were well organized defensively and only allowed a few breakdowns that cost us goals against."

Josee Primeau accounted for three of Valley's shot attempts while Nicole Forcier had two. MVSU goalkeeper Shelby Willcocks had eight saves.

Yazmin Montoya finished with two goals for ULL.

"Overall, I am very proud of each player's performance today because improvement was made, which at this stage is the most important thing to look at with conference play three weeks away. The results will come, however our focus is to keep improving each day."

MVSU will be at home Sunday, Sept. 22 when they host La.-Monroe at 1 p.m.
