MVSU QB named SWAC Newcomer of the Week
Delta Devil quarterback Patrick Ivy was named SWAC Newcomer of the Week after throwing for three TDs last week at Alcorn State. After sitting out against Delta State, Ivy led Valley on the ground and in the air, rushing for 79 yards.

Franklin receives honor
MVSU linebacker Jameel Franklin was named Honorable Mention Linebacker Performer of the Week after racking up 9 tackles (3 for loss) and a sack at Alcorn State.

Boykins, Jones lead SWAC in picks
Glendale Community College transfer defensive backs Davon Jones and Avery Boykin lead the SWAC in interceptions with two apiece. Boykin recorded an interception against FAMU and Delta State while Jones picked off DSU twice.

MVSU defense ranked 3rd
The MVSU defense is currently ranked third in the SWAC. The Delta Devils have allowed an average of 350.3 yards per game.

Avery adjusting to new position
After playing last season at tight end, Jacob Avery has adjusted to his new position at defensive end. He has started every game this season and currently has 14 tackles (2 for loss), a sack and a forced fumble.

Frizell picks up season-high at Alcorn
MVSU junior running back Cortez Frizell rushed for a season-high 52 yards on 15 carries last week at Alcorn State. He also caught two passes for 19 yards.
