Box Score 2 ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State opened conference play Friday and Saturday with a loss against Alabama A&M and Alabama State.
The Devilettes (6-13, 0-2 SWAC) fell 3-0 to the Lady Bulldogs Friday before falling 3-0 to the Lady Hornets by the same score.
Alabama A&M
Against the Lady Bulldogs, MVSU fell in straight sets: 25-16, 26-24, 25-18. Halee Clark led Valley with nine kills while Taylor Delaire chipped in four.
The Devilettes finished with a hitting percentage of .222. Cynthia Richardon had two blocks for Valley.
Alabama State
MVSU fought hard Saturday but was unable to overcome Alabama State as the Devilettes lost in straight sets: 25-20, 25-20, 26-24. Halee Clark accounted for eight of MVSU's 29 kills while Halle Gayten and Taylor Delaire chipped in five each.
Athena Abary and Alexandria Garland combined for 22 of Valley's 24 assists.
MVSU will be back at home Oct. 2 when they host Grambling State at 6 p.m.
