ITTA BENA, Miss. -- Thirty years ago, Mississippi Valley State was at the center of college football. Led by quarterback Willie Totten and legendary receiver Jerry Rice, the Delta Devils annihilated opposing teams en route to a 9-2 record.
That season, which began with a 86-0 victory over Kentucky State, Valley scored at least 40 points in nine of its 11 games.
