The Mississippi Valley State women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Alabama A&M on Friday and fell 3-0 at Alabama State, marking the end of the 2014 season for the Devilettes.Â
Alabama A&MThe Lady Bulldogs won in straight sets: 25-21, 25-19, 25-10. Valley held an early 5-2 lead in the first set thanks to four A&M errors and a kill by Ilashia Hale, but the Lady Bulldogs took control and claimed the victory. Halle Gayten led the Devilettes with six kills while Alexandria Garland chipped in 14 assists and a team-high eight digs. Cynthia Richardson had four blocking assists and Bianca Watkins accounted for the team's only service ace.Â
Alabama StateThe Lady Hornets ended the Devilettes season Saturday after winning in straight sets: 25-13, 25-17, 25-15. Again, Gayten paced the Devilettes in kills (7) and Richardson added six of her own. In the last game of her career, Garland had 10 assists while fellow senior Kayondra Hood contributed three service aces. Steffi Rodriguez, also a senior, had seven digs.Â
