OXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss women's basketball took advantage of 46 Mississippi Valley State turnovers Sunday afternoon and ran off with a 91-38 victory over the Devilettes at the Tad Smith Coliseum.
It marked the second loss of the season for Valley (0-2), who visits Southern Miss on Wednesday.
The Devilettes kept the game competitive through a large portion of the first half. Ronisha Morris put MVSU up 6-4 after the 16-minute mark after a pair of free throws. But that would be the final time Valley would have a lead over the Rebels.
Ole Miss lead 45-20 at halftime and outscored the Devilettes 46-18 in the second half.
MVSU's Chelsea Mabry tied her career-high in points (8) which she set last season at Ole Miss. The Beldon, Miss. native made all four shot attempts and chipped in five rebounds and a block.
Preseason All-SWAC selection Ashley Beals led Valley in scoring (9) with a bulk of it coming off five free throws. A'Shanti Weathers contributed eight points and Christina Reed had five points and eight rebounds.
Shandricka Sessom led Ole Miss with 21 points.
Valley shot 23.8 percent and converted 18 of 24 free throw attempts.
