Box Score LORMAN, Miss. -- Alcorn State defeated the Mississippi Valley State women's volleyball team for the second time this season Tuesday night when the Lady Braves defeated the Devilettes, 3-1, at the Whitney Complex.
Alcorn won the first two sets in comfortable fashion, 25-20 and 25-18, before Valley held on for a 26-24 victory in the third set. But, Alcorn came back strong to close out the game 25-14 in the fourth set.
MVSU's Halle Gayten had a season-high 17 kills, marking the fifth game this season that the New Orleans native has garnered double-digit kills. Meanwhile, defensively, Steffi Rodriguez finished with 17 digs while Liyah Davis chipped in a season-high 13 and Alexandria Garland had 12.
Garland has contributed 34 assists.
Following three games on the road, the Devilettes return home Monday, Nov. 10 against Arkansas-Monticello. Prior to the game, MVSU will honor its seniors who will be playing in their final home game of their career.
