EVANSTON, Ill. -- In the first of two games this week in Illinois, the Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team dropped a 101-49 decision Sunday night at Northwestern in the sixth meeting between the two schools.
Despite the loss, there were some positives to build off of including Latrell Love scoring a career high 15 points in his?third?game in the starting lineup. The junior college transfer made 6-of-13 shots and grabbed four rebounds. Jordan Washington and D'Angelo Priar added nine points apiece for Valley, who will have one day off before facing Northern Illinois on Tuesday.
Early on, MVSU trailed by just three points, 14-11, after a couple of Jeffrey Simmons jumpers. But, Northwestern responded with a 6-0 run and went into halftime with a 47-26 lead.
Alex Olah led Northwestern with 17 points.
