CLARKSDALE, Miss. -- Mississippi Valley State got a big boost from its bench Saturday, but it wasn't enough to pull past defending MEAC champion North Carolina Central.
More than half Valley's points came from off the bench in a 94-60 loss to the Eagles at The Pinnacle on the campus of Coahoma Community College. Jordan Washington, who made all 10 of his free throw attempts, led MVSU with 15 of the team's 43 bench points as the Delta Devils came up short in a tough non-conference matchup.
Jeffrey Simmons added 12 points off the bench and Isaac Williams contributed 10 points, marking his third time scoring in double-figures this season.
Jordan Parks made 10-of-11 shots and led the Eagles with 21 points while former MVSU guard Anthony McDonald converted a trio of three-pointer to add 18 points and six steals.
NCCU outscored the Delta Devils 47-30 in both periods.
Valley will be off until Dec. 28 when they travel to Houston.
