Box Score PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- After losing a pair of games Friday to Iowa and Ball State, the Mississippi Valley State baseball team fell 12-4 to Northwestern at the Snowbird Classic.
The Delta Devils kept the Wildcats scoreless in the first two innings, before Northwestern poured in 12 runs over the next five innings.
MVSU (0-7) received an offensive spark in the fifth inning when the Delta Devils scored three runs. Chris McWright bunted in the first run before Alex Bravo's sacrifice fly cut Northwestern's lead to 6-2. Parker Thurman's RBI-single accounted for the last run of the inning for Valley.
Thurman scored MVSU's final run in the seventh inning on a Northwestern balk.
Trent Kinney (0-2) gave up six earned runs on seven hits in three innings of work for the Delta Devils.
Xzavier Franklin led Valley with two of eight hits.
MVSU will close out the tournament Sunday against Kansas at 1:30 p.m.
