JSU defeated MVSU twice during the regular season -- with the last matchup coming March 1 when the Lady Tigers edged the Devilettes 70-68 in Jackson. But now it's a brand new slate and Valley will need its leaders to step up in order to fight off a JSU team that is riding a five-game win streak.
"We have the pieces, we just have to all come together as one," said MVSU head coach Elvis Robinson. "Hopefully, we can be lead by Joncyee and Jasmyne Sanders along with Ashley Beals. I think they can take us to where we need to go."
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the semifinals where No. 2 seeded Texas Southern awaits. TSU held off No. 7 seeded Grambling State on Wednesday 82-74 to stay alive in the tournament.
