Box Score JONESBORO, Ark. -- The Mississippi Valley State women's soccer team was in action for the second consecutive day on Friday afternoon when the Devilettes faced Arkansas State.

The Red Wolves (2-4) defeated the Devilettes, 5-1, at the A-State Soccer Complex to secure its second win of the season. Although the Devilettes (0-5) were unable to capture its first win of the season, Hailey Beekman did, however, score the first goal of the 2014 campaign near the 53rd minute. The goal came on an assist from newcomer Ernestina Abambila.

MVSU was able to get off 11 shots in the game, including six on goal. Nykosi Simmons led the way with four shots, including two shots on goal. Beekman, Haley Hendricks and Mariana Balboa each attempted two shots in the contest.

Valleys' Alyse Marco and Camila Gomide split time at the goalie position and combined for five saves. In nearly 39 minutes, Marco had four saves and gave up just one goal.

The Devilettes will now be off until Monday when they travel to Southeastern Louisiana.
