Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- On the opening day of the Chattanooga Classic volleyball tournament, Mississippi Valley State fell at the hands of Murray State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-10).
The Devilettes (1-5) fought hard throughout the game, especially in the first set as Valley held a 11-10 lead. But the Racers went on a 10-1 run to take a 20-12 lead, before winning the set, 25-14.
Murray State held the lead for the entire second and third set. The Devilettes had 12 kills in the game and Cynthia Richardson and Halee Clark had four apiece. Steffi Rodriguez paced the Devilettes with seven digs and Alexandria Garland put up eight assists. Meanwhile, Halle Gayten had four blocking assists.
Rodriguez, Alexis Williams and Kayondra Hood each had a service ace for the Devilettes.
