Box Score ITTA BENA, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat Wednesday in its home opener against Fisk University at the Charles Lackey Recreational Center on the MVSU campus.

It was a tough battle in all three sets, but the visitng Lady Bulldogs won all three rounds: 25-23, 25-21, 26-24.

MVSU's Halee Clark had a strong performance with 12 kills while Cynthia Richardson chipped in seven and Ilashia Hale had six. Halle Gayten, meanwhile, had three blocking assists.

Alexandria Garland was dependable and finished with 28 assists for the Devilettes.

Valley will be playing in a tournament at Mississippi State on Friday and Saturday. The Devilettes will face North Dakota and Mississippi State on Friday before battling Pacific and SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday. The Devilettes' game against MSU on Friday at 3 p.m. will be shown live on ESPN3.com and the SEC Network.
