Devilettes defeated by Privateers, 3-0

Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Mississippi Valley State's Halle Gayten and Halee Clark combined for 10 kills Tuesday night, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to power the Devilette volleyball team past the University of New Orleans.

The Privateers (2-2) defeated the Devilettes, 3-0, at the Human Performance Center after winning in straight sets: 25-10, 25-20, 20-9.

Valley landed its most punches during the second set, in which the Devilettes led 14-10 before UNO fought its way back. MVSU led 19-16 before a pair of service aces and kills by the Privateers put them ahead 20-19. UNO earned five of the final six points to win the second set.

As a team, the Devilettes had 13 digs in the game with Steffi Rodriguez, Bianca Watkins and Halee Clark accounting for three each. Meanwhile, sophomore Cynthia Richardson led the team with three blocking assists.

The Devilettes will be at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, September 8 at 6:30 p.m.
