LORMAN, Miss. -- The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team suffered a 87-67 loss Saturday night at Alcorn State in the first of two scheduled meetings this season between the rival schools.
DeAngelo Priar scored a season-high 20 points for the Delta Devils (2-15, 1-3 SWAC) while Jeffrey Simmons contributed 12 points off the bench. Priar was hot from behind the 3-point line, connecting on 4-of-6 shots.
Meanwhile, Jordan Washington added eight points, five rebounds and four assists and Isaac Williams put up seven points and seven rebounds.
Valley shot 39 percent and made 8-of-10 shots from the free throw line.
LeAntwan Luckett paced the Braves with 20 points.
MVSU now turns it attention to its next opponent, Southern University. The two teams are scheduled to meet in Baton Rouge on Monday night at 8 p.m.
