BATON ROUGE, La. -- Mississippi Valley State's most consistent scorers this season didn't disappoint Monday night at Southern University.
Christina Reed and Ashley Beals combined for 29 points and 18 rebounds against the Lady Jaguars but unfortunately?it wasn't enough to push the Devilettes to a victory. Southern defeated Valley, 70-51, at the F.G. Clark Activity Center in the Devilettes' second consecutive road game.
The Lady Jags (6-10, 4-2 SWAC) used a 37-23 second half rally to overcome MVSU (2-14, 0-5 SWAC) to improve to?4-2 in the conference.
Reed paced the Devilettes with 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals while Beals added 14 points and nine rebounds. Beals earned eight of her 14 points from the free throw line while Reed shot 7-of-12 from the field.
Kadesha Floyd chipped in eight points off the bench -- including a pair of 3-pointers -- and Kahdejah Stevens contributed seven points and five rebounds.
MVSU will return home Saturday when they host Prairie View A&M at?2 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center.
