ITTA BENA, Miss. --- The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University shutout the Lady Tigers of Grambling State University 6-0 in Wednesday's makeup game.
Nykosi Simmons started scoring for the Devilettes in the 13th minutes on a pass from Ernestina Abambila. Mississippi Valley refused to look back from that point forward. With afoul inside the box, Abambila faced off with the goalie on a penalty kick. With the successful kick, MVSU took a 2-0 lead.
Mariana Balbao scored the third goal for the Devilettes at the 56:16 mark, Ya'Kira Wilson is credited with the assist. Wilson took all the way for the next goal; Heather Craddock assisted her in her efforts.
Balbao recorded her second goal of the contest, just past the 60-minute mark. Craddock is credited with the assist. Haley Hendricks nailed the final goal for the Devilettes with less than four minutes remaining in the contest.
Goalkeeper Rita Gyasi recorded three saves, recording her fourth shutout of the season.
Head Coach N. Fabio Boateng stated, "We responded well after the Howard defeat, that shows character. We controlled the game from start to finish and defended well too."
