Provo, Utah - The Mississippi Valley State men's basketball team dropped a tough 75-68 contest Wednesday night to the Cougars of Brigham Young University.
Climbing back from a 17-point deficit in the first half the Delta Devils shot 40 percent from the three-point line, closing the score to 44-32 at the half. Damian Young paced the Delta Devils with 8-points, while Latrell Love added 7-points.
Young continued his hot shooting going 5-7 from the field and 3-4 from behind the arc leading the Delta Devils in scoring with 21-points for the game. Using tenacious defense the Delta Devils were able to cut the Cougars lead to 6 points after a Love field goal with 2:28 left in the game.
Head Coach Andre Payne stated, "We played a great game. Defensively we didn't let size hurt us, our guys played with heart on the floor. Most importantly, offensively we didn't take a lot of quick and bad shots. We moved the ball as a team and appeared as a unit out there."
The Delta Devils travel to Cookeville, Tennessee for their next match Friday against the Colonels or Robert Morris University.
