Hattiesburg, Miss. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State dropped a 71-55 contest to the University of Southern Mississippi.
"Our team came out fighting and they fought until the end. I know that at the conclusion of the game we fell short but I am proud of the team and the progress they showed today" said Head Coach Elvis Robinson.
In the first quarter USM held a slight edge, with a 21-16 lead heading into the second. MVSU bounced back to win the second by a score of 11-10. The third quarter made the difference with Southern Miss. winning the quarter 25-10. In the fourth the Devilettes outscore the Lady Eagles 16-15.
Ashley Beals completed the contest with 17-points, seven rebounds and two steals. Christina Reed added 14-points, three rebounds and two assists. Kahdejah Stevens tallied 10-points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block.
The Devilettes will be in action again tomorrow, November 28, when they face Nicholls State University at 2:00 pm in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
