Hattiesburg, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes dropped a close 63-54 contest to the Nicholls State Colonels.
"I am proud of the team for what they were able to accomplish as a team tonight. Ashley Beals was named to the Tournament team and that was an outstanding honor for her," said Head Coach Elvis Robinson.
In the first quarter Nicholls overpowered the Devilettes 20-9 heading into the second. MVSU bounced back to take the second 13-7. The third was closer, with the Colonels taking the quarter 22-14. The fourth ended with both teams finishing with 16-points.
Ashley Beals completed the contest with a double double, 19-points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals. Christina Reed added 16-points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Zemoria Jernigan tallied eight points, four rebounds, five assists and two steals.
The Devilettes will be in action again, December 1, when they play at home for the first time this season, as they host Blue Mountain College (Mississippi) at 6:30 pm in Greenwood, Mississippi.
